- God. Is dead. -

“The growth of knowledge about society, which includes the understanding of history as the heart of culture, derives from itself an irreversible knowledge, which is expressed by the destruction of God.”  (Guy Debord)

This is the eye of the needle.  This is the reason for the monotheistic god.  By making the “other”, formerly represented by nature, into a figure of authority represented by “god”, we make it something we can gradually overthrow by way of cultural-memory-as-history.  History is the slow murder of the other as something greater than ourselves.

The question is, what next?  Can we join in with the other, seeing ourselves as equals in a way that we never were before, or do we instead attempt to subjugate it further, making our selves powerless by being too power-hungry?  Because those who crave power are defining themselves by their lack of it, and as you define yourself, thus you are.

From the Dreamtime of the ancestors, to the wild call of nature, to the stern hand of The Father…  What god awaits humanity now?
