- Einstein was a buddhist -

whether he knew it or not:

“A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty… We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive.”

- Albert Einstein

Sometimes I feel like I don’t even know what it means to have a personal desire anymore.  Not that I claim to be “enlightened” or anything, but how can we claim to want something when we can’t even make sense of the reality in which it and we exist?  We would have to understand the whole world and everyone and everything in it, before we could honestly claim to “want” anything…

  1. You seem to have a desire to write down your thoughts and musings :-) Just saying.

  3. @ Pavel: Yeah, I do have a desire to “write down my own thoughts and musings”. That’s why I have this blog. If other people find them entertaining or useful, that makes me happy. No one has to read this!

I also find it helps me to become aware of certain habits and thought patterns that I have but which I am not conscious of. But I’m curious, what other reason is there for having a blog, if not to share your thoughts? Unless it’s to make money, but I’m not kidding myself on that. For what other purpose do you keep your blog?

Not trying to be angry or aggressive here, I am honestly curious if there’s some other paradigm I could look at blogging under. I have been feeling a bit stagnant lately; perhaps a little injection of novel chaos would be helpful.
